The label ARLETTE ESS features original pieces of art printed onto finest silk or pure fine wool scarves, made in Italy and the UK. Arlette Ess is a visual artist painting and drawing with ink, creating images which intricately capture textures and patterns of nature.
Arlette imagines the accessory as a very personal object to which we can relate to with our own experiences and dreams, a cherished adornment which tells stories of our own imagination.Every one of her objects is designed to be a timeless piece of art, an object of desire to stay with you for a long time.
The designs on the scarves often reference elements of our collective cultural identity, reflecting on ideas of who we are and where we come from. Her intricate figurative drawings are multi-layered with references and possible associations, and can be perceived as emotional landscapes, a glimpse into a complex inner world.
Arlette has a degree from University of the Arts London, and has exhibited various art and design projects in group shows and galleries in Paris, Berlin, London and Tokyo.She has a background in fashion, also having worked as a model internationally for many years. After a stint of print design at Alexander McQueen, she decided to start her own eponymous accessories label whilst continuing working on various freelance commissions, collaborations and personal projects.
She resides in London.
